Normandy Park lies in the District of Saanich, one of thirteen areas that form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. Immediately south of the building that forms Saanich Commonwealth Recreation Center is Normandy Park. This park is accessed from the trail to the southside of the Center. The park has a wonderful play area with swings and climbing apparatus set on a woodchip base. There is a small grass covered area. The trail from the Commonwealth Center has a foot bridge across a tributary of Colquitz River called Normandy Creek. Colquitz River flows from Beaver Lake into the ocean waters in Portage Inlet. Normandy Creek flows from the Faliase neighborhood and Royal Oak Cemetery Area. The small Oregon ash tree, Frazinus latifolia, that can be found along Normandy Creek. This is good place to walk in your backyard.

Normandy Park can be access from Highway #1, TransCanada Highway, exiting at Helmcken Road. Follow this road as it becomes Wilkinson Road. Continue along as it becomes Royal Oak Drive. Turn left onto Pipeline Road then right on to Normandy Road. Look for the park on the left between homes 560 and 550. Another option is to turn off Highway #1 at the MacKenzie Exit and continue along to exit onto Pat Bay Highway. Then take the Royal Oak Exit and cross over the overpass over the Pat Bay Hi-way. Follow the signs to the Commonwealth Recreation Center parking lot. Walk toward the building’ south side and look for the pathway and bridge. Alternatively, the park bordered by Normandy Road which can be accessed from Elk Lake Drive. There is some parking on Normandy Road. The District of Saanich has document here.
