Beckton Park lies in the District of Saanich one of thirteen areas that form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. This forested parkland is just over half a hectare with a dirt and mulch trail that switchbacks back on both sides of Gardom ravine. The Gradom Creek watershed is composed of a small ephemeral creek that flows into Cordova Bay near Agate Park. The creek is mostly channeled underground along Walema Street. This creek may have been named after the Gradom family; prominent in BC politics for many decades. The park has cedar and fir trees with ferns and blackberries in the understory. This park lies between several streets of Cordova Bay: Hanover, Beckton, Walema and Polson Terrace. There are some wonderful vistas of Cordova Bay, Haro Strait and the San Juan Islands along the trail. The trail access from Hanover Place is via a 50-step concrete staircase while the access from both Beckton and Polson are sloped. This is a great place to enjoy the late winter sunrises.
