Cordova Bay Elementary School Green Space lies in the District of Saanich one of thirteen areas that form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. This school yard is part of the Saanich School District. The school opened in nineteen forty-six and with its last upgrade for seismic support used prefabricated laminated timber became the first school to be constructed with these materials. The school yard is about 2.5 hectares. There is a small corpse of tall fir trees along the north fence and a couple of other trees in the school yard. A large grass covered sports field provides areas for track and field, soccer and other ball sports. There are two playground play areas. The one near to Ramble Road is a multilevel play structure with climbing areas and slides. The play area near to Cordova Bay Road is a composite collection of play structures one with a tall slide and another for climbers with ladders and bars that encourage exploration. There is also a swing set and a nature play area. A small garden space is maintained for educational purposes. This is a wonderful place to walk in your backyard.
