Parker Park (Sayward Beach)

Parker Park lies in the District of Saanich one of thirteen areas that form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. This small oceanside park is a quarter of a hectare in size. The short trail from the parking area leads to a concrete staircase to step down to Sayward Beach. Often referred to as Parker Beach, after the road that lies besides Sayward Beach is a popular sand-cobble beach along the ocean waters of Haro Strait part of the Salish Sea. At low tides, the sandy beach is quite wide making it a leisure stroll to Noble Creek at its northern end. Returning along the five-hundred-and-fifty-meter shore brings you back to Burnham Creek that flows to the ocean through the Cordova Bay Golf Course. It is a popular place for dog walking. Dogs are expected to be on leash except between 6am to 9am when they can be off leash.

On clear days, the San Juan Islands can be seen across the waters as well as Mt Baker a snowcapped peak in the Cascade Mountain range of Washington State, USA. This is the only access to Sayward Beach as the beach is lined with large private homes. Another beautiful beach is Cordova Bay Beach which has a couple of beach access points such as the end of Walema Avenue.  This park is located opposite the Cordova Bay Golf Course. This is a good place to walk in your backyard.
