La Bonne Matheson Lake Trail is in the coastal community of Metchosin in the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. Douglas fir and cedar trees provide cover over this trail that lies on the slopes of Matheson Lake. Ferns, mosses, lichen and few smaller plants complete the understory. The rocky trail curves down the hill about two hundred meters toward Matheson Lake Regional Park. When you follow the trail branch eastward, parallel to the Galloping Goose Trail – Metchosin, Wayne Road Park and trail can be reached. The lake shore is about five hundred meters further down slope.

La Bonne Matheson Lake Trail can be reached from Highway 1 when you exit at the Millstream /Veteran Memorial Parkway exit. Head south along the Veteran Memorial Parkway to reach Latoria Road. Turn right onto Latoria Road and continue along to reach Happy Valley Road. Turn left onto Happy Valley Road and then right onto Rocky Point Road. Continue along Rocky Point Road to reach Liberty Drive. Turn right onto Liberty Drive and continue to Le Bonne Road. Look for the trail marker for La Bonne Matheson Lake Trail in the curve of Le Bonne Road between properties numbered 5135 and 5145. There is limited parking along the roadside.
