Cains Family Park is in the seaside community of Sooke, one of thirteen communities that form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. A wooden staircase leads down the steep slope the rock and mud shoreline of Sooke Harbor. Richard Cain, senior, settled in Sooke in the eighteen hundred and ninety. He raised a family with Margaret Charters, daughter of WB Charter, on the shore line of Sooke Harbor. Mr Cain was a boat builder, sealer and mariner who spent time away sealing and cod fishing near the Alaska waters. The parkland was donated to Sooke by his family in two thousand and five. This is a great place to walk in your back yard.
