Cecelia Cove Park is in the city of Victoria, one of thirteen communities that form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. Cecelia Cove Park lies west of the Waterfront Crescent and east of the Galloping Goose Trail and Viaduct Park. Home to many local and migratory birds, such as ducks and geese, the estuary habitat of Cecelia Creek and Cove is enhanced by the freshwater from Cecelia Creek as it flows into the Gorge Waterway. You may be fortunate to spot a great blue heron (Ardea herodias) fishing in the mudflats or perhaps a river otter or two. The beach area is rough and rocky but potentially a good spot to launch a small water craft. About a quarter of a hectare in size, this triangular shape park is a partially grass covered area amongst the rocky outcrops and concrete remnants of the old sawmill of the Cameron Lumber Company which was based here for about eight decades. The seasonally flowering shrubs and trees make this a wonderful place for a picnic. There are benches along the two hundred meters of pathways that connect with to Viaduct Park and the Galloping Goose Regional Trail (GGT). The timber board walk that extends south leads toward shops and the rowing center along Sawmill Point Green Space. There is a drinking water fountain near the pathway that connects with Viaduct Park. Cecelia Cove Park can be reached from Blanchard Street. Turn west onto Finlayson Street and continue past Burnside Road West to reach Gorge Road East. Continue onto Jutlands Road and turn right of the traffic circle onto Waterfront Crescent. The Cecelia Cove Park is along the curve in the road .Alternatively get on the GGT and once the trestle or pass under the tunnel for Gorge Road East to access Viaduct park, turn off toward the Selkirk walkway to enter Cecelia Cove Park. A city bus travels along Gorge Road East from downtown.
