Pioneer Park is in the municipality of Central Saanich, one of the thirteen which form the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. Located on the Saanich Peninsula of Vancouver Island, Pioneer Park recognizes the settlers of the area. It is located close to all amenities, including the public library, shopping centers and Rom Knott Park, the local baseball field with bleachers. This park hosts the original building that was the West Saanich School which rests on its original nineteen o’eight foundation. The building has been restored to become the community hall. This is good place to enjoy the landscaped lawns and park benches. There are rhododendrons and other plantings in the garden beds have colorful seasonal displays. Garry oak and fir trees provide shade over the parkland. Pioneer Park hosts for summer entertainment activities such as Music in the Park and the local festival. A footpath connect Pioneer Park with Rom Knott Park and Lucille Drive. This is a good place to walk in your backyard.

Pioneer Park can be reached from the Trans-Canada Highway, Hwy 1. Exit onto McKenzie Avenue and follow along to exit onto Highway 17, Pat Bay Highway. Follow Hwy 17 to exit to the left onto Island View Road. Follow Island View to East Saanich Road. Turn left onto East Saanich Road and then turn left onto Stelly’s Cross Road. Follow Stelly’s Cross Road to West Saanich Road. Turn left onto West Saanich Road to reach Clarke Road. Turn right onto Clarke Road and look for the parking area on the left. There is a parking lot. City busses travel along West Saanich Road.
