Hans Helgeson Elementary School Green Space is in the District of Metchosin, a coastal community in the Capital Regional District of British Columbia. The three hectare area is part of the Sooke School District number 62 in B.C. Originally built in nineteen sixty nine its name commemorates Mr Hans Helgeson. He was a farmer pioneer and prospector in the Metchosin area as well as a member of parliament during the eighteen sixties. The school yard has a large grass covered field for outdoor sports and a playground area that available outside of school hours. The landscape of the school yard includes some evergreen trees while the school yard is bordered by a chainlink fence and homesteads. There is a small of second growth cedar and Douglas fir forest near the entrance to the school property. The Galloping Goose Trail – Metchosin is nearby.

Hans Helgeson Elementary School Green Space can be reached from Highway 1 when you exit at the Millstream /Veteran Memorial Parkway exit. Head south along the Veteran Memorial Parkway to reach Latoria Road. Turn right onto Latoria Road and continue along to reach Happy Valley Road. Turn left onto Happy Valley Road and then right onto Rocky Point Road. Look for the school signs along the roadway. The entrance maybe have a barrier outside of school hours. There is a small parking area on the left of the driveway into the school.
